Sonic The Hedgehog: History
Sonic The Hedgehog is a blue hedgehog who has a face that looks eerily similar to Felix the Cat. Besides having a very good game under his name, another reason why Sonic was able to stand up to Mario is because unlike Alex Kidd, Sonic The Hedgehog had his own personality and was not trying to ape Nintendo’s plump plumber.
Sonic the Hedgehog’s beautiful, fast-paced gameplay is also unique and breathed a sense of innovation at the face of gamers who were used to Mario’s slower platform antics. Sonic The Hedgehog gave kids a game that juxtaposes beautiful sceneries that attract attention with addicting, twitchy gameplay that requires them to speed past the course as best as they can. This makes the game itself have an extended replay value, as its qualities make the gamer feel like they have never had enough of a single stage.
